OWEN O’NEILL has won a string of awards for his one-man shows at the Edinburgh Festival. His highly distinctive brand of chaotic and surreal comedy has also made him a familiar face on TV from his 1985 debut in Saturday Live to his own Stand-up Special for BBC2. His new short film, The Basket Case, has just won the Best Short category at Boston Film Festival, and the BBC has commissioned him to adapt five of his one-man shows for Radio Four’s Late Night Comedy slot.

“O’Neill will take you on a roller coaster ride. One of the funniest storytellers in the business.” The New York Post

TIM WHITEHEAD is one of the UK’s foremost tenor sax players. He has been a key member of such ground-breaking ensembles as Loose Tubes in the 1980s and, more recently, the Homemade Orchestra. Personal Standards, his 1999 album of pop and soul classics arranged for jazz quartet was named Jazz Album of the year by the BBC Music Magazine. His very first public performance was as the soloist in Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, conducted by his schoolfriend Simon Rattle.

“In a country of fine saxophonists he is one of the finest.” Birmingham Post

PATTY VETTA has sung with The Everly Brothers and Johnny Cash, and was a member of the Settlers band in the 1970s. She and ALAN FRANKS have performed at clubs and festivals for the past 20 years, playing his songs that range from the soulful narrative of GI’s Lament to the horribly topical comedy of Raining Millionaires on Wall Street. One of the numbers, The Wishfulness Waltz, became the title track of a CD by folk-rock legends Fairport Convention.

“This is the real thing…I wish I could write like Franks and sing like Vetta.”
Jake Thackray
